User Day 2012

Today at 12:00 CSCS is welcoming its user community for the annual User Day appointment.

This year invited speakers are:

Professor Petros Koumoutsakos, ETH Zurich: ““High Performance Computing for Flows Across Scales and Disciplines”

Professor Nicola Spaldin, ETH Zurich: ““From transition metal oxides to cosmic strings (and how electronic structure calculations can help”

David Daverio, PhD student, University of Geneva: “Cosmic String Simulations”

Dr. Jim Maltby, Cray Inc.: ”XMT/uRiKA overview”

Continuing last year formula, we place a strong focus on the poster sessions. 42 posters were submitted for this year User Day and at the end of the event the community will vote for the best poster.

CSCS will also contribute:  CSCS director Thomas Schulthess will open the talks with his presentation on the CSCS strategy for the future, followed the second day by the general manager Dominik Ulmer, Dr. Neil Stringfellow, and Dr. Maria-Grazia Giuffreda who are going to give an update on the new systems that are soon going to arrive at CSCS for our community and finally on the Call for proposals.
