uRiKA, a new graph appliance for big data analysis

Matterhorn, our next-generation Cray XMT machine – in operation for eight months at CSCS – has officially been announced as a new product, designed by YarcData, a new division of Cray.  This purpose-built appliance for graph analytics, named uRiKA, allows one to solve large graph problems with a carefully designed software stack. uRiKA supports open standards like Java, RDF and SPARQL. Applications can be built using J2EE and plugged into the WS02 OSGi framework.

The large shared memory and massively multithreaded system can perform data analytics on huge datasets for multiple data types, such as unstructured, text, sequence, numerical, or images, and enables the user to visualize complex relationships in their data.

CSCS will soon install the software stack on matterhorn. More details about uRiKA can be obtained from
