Friday, October 26th, 2012

Another type of GPU is now being evaluated at CSCS. The cards now offer ECC. Applications developed in OpenCL will be tested on this new graphics cards by several units at CSCS.

Highend card with up to 2048 shader processors and 5GB (W8000) and 6GB (W9000) DDR5 Memory.

Memory bandwidth is 176 (W8000) and 264 GB/s (W9000). The cards can deliver 3.23 Tflops SP Peak (W8000) and 3.99 Tflops SP Peak (W9000). DP is a factor 4 lower.

K10 sample under evaluation at CSCS

Monday, September 10th, 2012

The first Nvidia GPU with Gen3 is under evaluation at CSCS. The card was recently added to a dual-socket node with Intel E5-2670 (Sandy Bridge). The GPU is optimized for single precision performance (4.58 Tflops Peak) and is of special interest for molecular dynamics and seismic processing. It is powered by two identical GK104 chips connected with a PCIe switch. Equipped with 8GB of GDDR5 memory, it delivers up to 320GB/s of memory bandwidth. The K20 high-end GPU (GK110) will be available in Q4 2012.
